Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/about-stx/ :::note[Status] STX is not yet open for trading in the United States. [XV Exchange, LLC](https://www.cftc.gov/IndustryOversight/IndustryFilings/TradingOrganizations/58807) has applied to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission for designation as a contract market; that application is pending, and no assurance can be given that it will be approved. ::: ## What is STX? STX is a predictions platform for event contracts operated by XV Exchange, LLC. An event contract lets you trade on a specified outcome, with settlement determined by the contract’s published terms. ## Is STX regulated? The regulatory status of XV Exchange, LLC, which operates STX, and the rules governing its markets are described in its regulatory disclosures. Review those disclosures and the Rulebook before trading. CFTC oversight does not guarantee profits or protect you from trading losses. ## What is an event contract? An event contract is a financial contract whose payout depends on an event or outcome. Before trading, read the contract specifications to understand what the contract measures, when trading ends, the source used to determine the result, and how it settles. ## Who am I trading with? Your orders are matched with orders from other Exchange members. These members may include individual traders, institutions, and market makers. The Clearing House becomes the buyer to each seller and the seller to each buyer when a trade is cleared. ## What should I review before trading? Read the market question and full contract specifications, including the outcome criteria, official source, trading deadline, and settlement provisions. Also review the Rulebook, Member Agreement, Fee Schedule, and risk disclosures. ## Does STX recommend which contracts I should buy? You are responsible for your trading decisions. Information about a market or its rules does not guarantee an outcome or a profit. Consider the risks and your financial circumstances before submitting an order. --- # Accounts and eligibility > Who can open an account, identity verification, location and account restrictions. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/accounts-and-eligibility/ ## Who can open an account? You must meet the age requirement in the Member Agreement, be legally able to enter into a binding contract, satisfy our eligibility and location requirements, and complete identity verification. Opening an account is subject to approval. ## Can a business open an account? Eligible legal entities may apply for membership. We may request formation documents, ownership and control information, and details about authorized traders. The entity and each authorized trader must meet applicable requirements. ## Why do I need to verify my identity? Identity verification helps us confirm who is using the account and meet applicable compliance obligations. We may request personal information, identification documents, or additional information before approving your application or allowing account activity. ## Why is my application pending review? We may need additional documents or time to review your information. Check for requests from STX and make sure your details are accurate. Contact Customer Support if you need help responding to a request. ## Why can’t I trade from my location? Access depends on your location, eligibility, and applicable restrictions. Availability may change. Do not use a VPN or other method to bypass location restrictions. Contact Customer Support if you believe your location has been identified incorrectly. ## Can I share my account or let someone trade for me? Keep your login credentials private. Anyone trading for an entity must be approved as an authorized trader through the STX onboarding process. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and for activity conducted through your account. ## Why was my account restricted? An account may be restricted while we review eligibility, verification, compliance concerns, or other issues under the Rulebook. Depending on the restriction, new orders may be blocked or only orders to close positions may be permitted. Follow any instructions provided by STX. ## How do I update my account information? Contact Customer Support if your name, address, ownership information, or other account details change. Additional verification may be required. --- # Available balance > Your available balance is the cash you can use for new orders, meaning funds not already held for open orders or positions. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/available-balance/ Your available balance is the amount you can use for new orders. It is the cash in your account that is not already held for open orders or open positions. - When you place an order, the cost of the order is held until it is matched or canceled. - If you cancel an order, or it is rejected, the funds held for it return to your available balance. - When a position settles, the funds released by the settlement are added back. Because positions on STX are fully collateralized, you need enough available balance to cover the maximum loss on a new position. See [Trading and orders](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-and-orders/) and [Portfolio value](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/portfolio-value/). --- # I can't log in > What to do if you forgot your password or the email on your account, your account is locked, or it says it is not active. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/cant-log-in/ ## I forgot my password Tap **Forgot Password** on the login screen and follow the link we email you to set a new one. ## I forgot which email I signed up with Try **Forgot Password** with each email address you use. If none works, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/) with your full name and phone number. Never include your password in a support request; STX staff will never ask for it. ## My account is locked An account can be locked after several unsuccessful login attempts. Reset your password with **Forgot Password**, then log in with the new one. If you still cannot log in, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/). ## It says my account is dormant or not active - **Dormant:** an account can become dormant after a long period without a login. [Contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/) from the email address on the account. - **Not active, or awaiting approval:** your application or identity verification may not be complete. See [Verifying your identity](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/verifying-your-identity/). If your account has been restricted, see [Accounts and eligibility](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/accounts-and-eligibility/). --- # Changing your details > How to change your password, or update your name, address, email or phone number on your STX account. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/changing-your-details/ Your account details must be accurate and stay current. - **Password:** tap **Forgot Password** on the login screen and follow the link we email you. - **Name, address, date of birth, email or phone number:** [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/) from the email address on your account and tell us what has changed. Because these details are part of your identity verification, additional verification may be required, and we may ask for a document that shows the new details. For an entity account, contact Customer Support when ownership information or authorized traders change. Never send your password to Customer Support. STX staff will never ask for it. --- # Closing your account > How to close your STX account, what has to happen first, and how to take a break from trading instead. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/closing-your-account/ If you no longer want to use STX, you can ask to close your account. Before an account can be closed, it must have no open orders and no open positions, and its balance must be withdrawn. Cancel any open orders, close or wait for the settlement of any positions, and [withdraw your funds](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/deposits-withdrawals-and-fees/) first. ## How to close your account - **In the app:** open your profile settings and follow the steps to close your account. - **Through Customer Support:** [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/) from the email address on your account and ask to close it. ## Taking a break instead If you want a break rather than closing your account, you can set a [cool off period](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/cool-off-period/), [self-exclude](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/self-exclusion/), or set [trading limits](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-limits/). --- # Cool off period > Take a short break from trading on STX with a cool off period. How to set one and what it means for your account. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/cool-off-period/ A cool off period lets you take a short break. During the period you cannot trade, deposit or make other changes to your account. To set one, open the menu in the app, select **Member Protection**, then **Cool Off**, and choose a period from the options shown. A cool off period cannot be reversed once it is set. It restricts you from trading on STX until the period you selected ends, so review your choice before you confirm it. If you need help with your account or funds during a cool off period, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/). For a longer break, see [Self-exclusion](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/self-exclusion/). To limit your activity without stopping, see [Trading limits](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-limits/). --- # Deposits, withdrawals and fees > Funding your account, when deposits are available, withdrawals and fees. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/deposits-withdrawals-and-fees/ ## How do I fund my account? Use an accepted funding method and follow the instructions provided by STX. Funding accounts must meet the ownership and eligibility requirements in the Rulebook. Available methods, limits, fees, and processing times are described in the current funding instructions. ## Can I use someone else’s bank account? Funding and withdrawal accounts must be in the member’s name and satisfy the Rulebook requirements. Do not use another person’s account to fund your membership account. ## When will my deposit be available? Availability depends on the funding method, receipt of funds, and any applicable review or hold. Do not assume that initiating a payment makes the funds immediately available for trading or withdrawal. ## Why can’t I use or withdraw my full balance? Some funds may be committed to positions, subject to a hold or review, or needed to satisfy outstanding obligations. A displayed account balance may differ from the amount available to trade or withdraw. Contact Customer Support for an explanation of your balance. ## How do I withdraw funds? Submit a withdrawal request using the STX withdrawal process. Funds are sent to an eligible financial account registered with STX. Make sure your account details are accurate before submitting the request. ## How long does a withdrawal take? Under the Rulebook, XV Exchange transmits a withdrawal request to the Clearing House within one business day, subject to applicable restrictions. That is not a guarantee that funds will arrive within one business day. Receipt also depends on processing by the Clearing House, settlement bank, and receiving institution. ## Can a withdrawal be delayed or denied? Yes. Withdrawals may be delayed, suspended, or denied under the Rulebook, including where funds are needed for outstanding obligations, a transfer would violate applicable law, or funds are relevant to a pending investigation. ## What fees does STX charge? Review the current [Fee Schedule](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/fee-schedule/) before trading or moving funds. It describes applicable trading, settlement, withdrawal, and other charges. Fees affect your total cost and any profit or loss. --- # Fee Schedule > STX's US trading fees. Takers pay a fee and makers get a rebate, both set by the price: at most $1.25 and $0.25 per 100 contracts. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/fee-schedule/ STX uses a maker-taker pricing model that rewards members who add liquidity to the market. The fee on a trade depends on whether your order was a: - **Taker** order: it matched an order that was already on the order book. Takers pay a fee. - **Maker** order: it rested on the order book and was matched later by another member. Makers receive a rebate, a credit to their account. ## Fee formula For each executed order: > Fee = f × C × P × (1 − P) | Variable | Definition | | --- | --- | | f | Fee factor: 0.05 for a taker, −0.01 for a maker (a negative fee is a rebate) | | C | Number of contracts executed | | P | Price of one contract, in dollars ($0.01 to $0.99) | The fee is largest when the price is $0.50 and gets smaller as the price moves toward $0.01 or $0.99. ## Fees are calculated per order An order can fill in several trades. The fees of all of an order's fills are added together, and the total is rounded up to the nearest cent once for the whole order, not trade by trade. **Example:** you place a taker order for 3 contracts at $0.50, and it fills in three trades of 1 contract each. - Fee on each trade, before rounding: 0.05 × 1 × 0.50 × 0.50 = $0.0125 - Total for the order: 3 × $0.0125 = $0.0375, rounded up once to **$0.04** - Rounding each trade separately would have charged 3 × $0.02 = $0.06. Rounding the order total avoids that. ## Examples **Buying as a taker.** You buy 100 contracts at $0.40 each, and your order matches an order already on the book. - Contracts cost: 100 × $0.40 = $40.00 - Taker fee: 0.05 × 100 × 0.40 × 0.60 = $1.20 - You pay **$41.20**. If each contract settles at $1.00, your profit is $58.80 after fees. **Buying as a maker.** You place an order to buy 100 contracts at $0.40, it waits on the order book, and another member's order later matches it. - Contracts cost: 100 × $0.40 = $40.00 - Maker rebate: 0.01 × 100 × 0.40 × 0.60 = $0.24 - You pay **$39.76**. **A price near $1.** You sell 100 contracts at $0.99 as a taker. - Taker fee: 0.05 × 100 × 0.99 × 0.01 = $0.0495, rounded up to **$0.05** - Near $0.01 or $0.99 the fee is very small. ## Fee table The price is the price of **one** contract. The fee columns are for a trade of **100 contracts** at that price; for another number of contracts, scale the 100-contract amount (for 10 contracts, divide by 10). Amounts are before rounding. [Download the table](https://help.stxapp.io/downloads/stx-us-fee-schedule.csv) | Price per contract | Taker fee per contract | Taker fee, 100 contracts | Maker rebate, 100 contracts | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | $0.01 | $0.000495 | $0.0495 | $0.0099 | | $0.02 | $0.000980 | $0.0980 | $0.0196 | | $0.03 | $0.001455 | $0.1455 | $0.0291 | | $0.04 | $0.001920 | $0.1920 | $0.0384 | | $0.05 | $0.002375 | $0.2375 | $0.0475 | | $0.06 | $0.002820 | $0.2820 | $0.0564 | | $0.07 | $0.003255 | $0.3255 | $0.0651 | | $0.08 | $0.003680 | $0.3680 | $0.0736 | | $0.09 | $0.004095 | $0.4095 | $0.0819 | | $0.10 | $0.004500 | $0.4500 | $0.0900 | | $0.11 | $0.004895 | $0.4895 | $0.0979 | | $0.12 | $0.005280 | $0.5280 | $0.1056 | | $0.13 | $0.005655 | $0.5655 | $0.1131 | | $0.14 | $0.006020 | $0.6020 | $0.1204 | | $0.15 | $0.006375 | $0.6375 | $0.1275 | | $0.16 | $0.006720 | $0.6720 | $0.1344 | | $0.17 | $0.007055 | $0.7055 | $0.1411 | | $0.18 | $0.007380 | $0.7380 | $0.1476 | | $0.19 | $0.007695 | $0.7695 | $0.1539 | | $0.20 | $0.008000 | $0.8000 | $0.1600 | | $0.21 | $0.008295 | $0.8295 | $0.1659 | | $0.22 | $0.008580 | $0.8580 | $0.1716 | | $0.23 | $0.008855 | $0.8855 | $0.1771 | | $0.24 | $0.009120 | $0.9120 | $0.1824 | | $0.25 | $0.009375 | $0.9375 | $0.1875 | | $0.26 | $0.009620 | $0.9620 | $0.1924 | | $0.27 | $0.009855 | $0.9855 | $0.1971 | | $0.28 | $0.010080 | $1.0080 | $0.2016 | | $0.29 | $0.010295 | $1.0295 | $0.2059 | | $0.30 | $0.010500 | $1.0500 | $0.2100 | | $0.31 | $0.010695 | $1.0695 | $0.2139 | | $0.32 | $0.010880 | $1.0880 | $0.2176 | | $0.33 | $0.011055 | $1.1055 | $0.2211 | | $0.34 | $0.011220 | $1.1220 | $0.2244 | | $0.35 | $0.011375 | $1.1375 | $0.2275 | | $0.36 | $0.011520 | $1.1520 | $0.2304 | | $0.37 | $0.011655 | $1.1655 | $0.2331 | | $0.38 | $0.011780 | $1.1780 | $0.2356 | | $0.39 | $0.011895 | $1.1895 | $0.2379 | | $0.40 | $0.012000 | $1.2000 | $0.2400 | | $0.41 | $0.012095 | $1.2095 | $0.2419 | | $0.42 | $0.012180 | $1.2180 | $0.2436 | | $0.43 | $0.012255 | $1.2255 | $0.2451 | | $0.44 | $0.012320 | $1.2320 | $0.2464 | | $0.45 | $0.012375 | $1.2375 | $0.2475 | | $0.46 | $0.012420 | $1.2420 | $0.2484 | | $0.47 | $0.012455 | $1.2455 | $0.2491 | | $0.48 | $0.012480 | $1.2480 | $0.2496 | | $0.49 | $0.012495 | $1.2495 | $0.2499 | | $0.50 | $0.012500 | $1.2500 | $0.2500 | | $0.51 | $0.012495 | $1.2495 | $0.2499 | | $0.52 | $0.012480 | $1.2480 | $0.2496 | | $0.53 | $0.012455 | $1.2455 | $0.2491 | | $0.54 | $0.012420 | $1.2420 | $0.2484 | | $0.55 | $0.012375 | $1.2375 | $0.2475 | | $0.56 | $0.012320 | $1.2320 | $0.2464 | | $0.57 | $0.012255 | $1.2255 | $0.2451 | | $0.58 | $0.012180 | $1.2180 | $0.2436 | | $0.59 | $0.012095 | $1.2095 | $0.2419 | | $0.60 | $0.012000 | $1.2000 | $0.2400 | | $0.61 | $0.011895 | $1.1895 | $0.2379 | | $0.62 | $0.011780 | $1.1780 | $0.2356 | | $0.63 | $0.011655 | $1.1655 | $0.2331 | | $0.64 | $0.011520 | $1.1520 | $0.2304 | | $0.65 | $0.011375 | $1.1375 | $0.2275 | | $0.66 | $0.011220 | $1.1220 | $0.2244 | | $0.67 | $0.011055 | $1.1055 | $0.2211 | | $0.68 | $0.010880 | $1.0880 | $0.2176 | | $0.69 | $0.010695 | $1.0695 | $0.2139 | | $0.70 | $0.010500 | $1.0500 | $0.2100 | | $0.71 | $0.010295 | $1.0295 | $0.2059 | | $0.72 | $0.010080 | $1.0080 | $0.2016 | | $0.73 | $0.009855 | $0.9855 | $0.1971 | | $0.74 | $0.009620 | $0.9620 | $0.1924 | | $0.75 | $0.009375 | $0.9375 | $0.1875 | | $0.76 | $0.009120 | $0.9120 | $0.1824 | | $0.77 | $0.008855 | $0.8855 | $0.1771 | | $0.78 | $0.008580 | $0.8580 | $0.1716 | | $0.79 | $0.008295 | $0.8295 | $0.1659 | | $0.80 | $0.008000 | $0.8000 | $0.1600 | | $0.81 | $0.007695 | $0.7695 | $0.1539 | | $0.82 | $0.007380 | $0.7380 | $0.1476 | | $0.83 | $0.007055 | $0.7055 | $0.1411 | | $0.84 | $0.006720 | $0.6720 | $0.1344 | | $0.85 | $0.006375 | $0.6375 | $0.1275 | | $0.86 | $0.006020 | $0.6020 | $0.1204 | | $0.87 | $0.005655 | $0.5655 | $0.1131 | | $0.88 | $0.005280 | $0.5280 | $0.1056 | | $0.89 | $0.004895 | $0.4895 | $0.0979 | | $0.90 | $0.004500 | $0.4500 | $0.0900 | | $0.91 | $0.004095 | $0.4095 | $0.0819 | | $0.92 | $0.003680 | $0.3680 | $0.0736 | | $0.93 | $0.003255 | $0.3255 | $0.0651 | | $0.94 | $0.002820 | $0.2820 | $0.0564 | | $0.95 | $0.002375 | $0.2375 | $0.0475 | | $0.96 | $0.001920 | $0.1920 | $0.0384 | | $0.97 | $0.001455 | $0.1455 | $0.0291 | | $0.98 | $0.000980 | $0.0980 | $0.0196 | | $0.99 | $0.000495 | $0.0495 | $0.0099 | Fees affect your total cost and any profit or loss. If something in your limit history looks wrong, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/). --- # How to place a limit order > What a limit order is, how its limit price works, and how to place one on STX using the Order Slip. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/limit-orders/ A limit order is an order to buy or sell a set number of contracts at a limit price. It specifies the highest price you are willing to pay to buy, or the lowest price you are willing to accept to sell. It may execute at that price or a better one. Execution is not guaranteed. You can place a limit order and wait for another member's order to match it, or match an order that is already on the order book. ## Placing a limit order In the **Order Slip**, choose **Limit** as the order type, enter your limit price and the number of contracts, review the **Cost** and **Payout**, and select **Place Order**. If your order is not matched straight away, the unexecuted part stays open at your limit price until it executes, is canceled or otherwise expires under the rules. See [Trading and orders](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-and-orders/) and [Orders](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/orders/). --- # Location checks > Why your location matters when you trade on STX, why not to use a VPN, and what to do if your location looks wrong. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/location-checks/ Access to STX depends on your location, eligibility and applicable restrictions, and availability may change. See [Accounts and eligibility](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/accounts-and-eligibility/). ## Don't use a VPN or proxy Do not use a VPN, proxy or any other method to bypass location restrictions. Turn off any VPN or proxy, including VPNs built into antivirus software and private relay features, before you trade. ## My location looks wrong If you believe your location has been identified incorrectly, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/). Tell us your city and state, the device and browser you are using, and any error message you see. --- # Market integrity and exchange information > Affiliates, conflicts, market makers, notices and your trade records. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/market-integrity/ ## Can affiliates of XV Exchange trade? The Rulebook permits an affiliate to trade as a member with Board approval and subject to safeguards. These include operational independence, restrictions on access to nonpublic information, and compliance with Exchange rules. This permission does not guarantee that an affiliate will provide liquidity. ## How are affiliate conflicts managed? Rule 2.12 sets conditions for affiliate participation, including separation of operations and limits on access to Exchange information. The Rulebook also provides for disclosures when affiliate trading activities change materially. ## What is a market maker? A market maker is a member designated under an Exchange program to provide trading interest subject to the program’s requirements. Market makers may receive program benefits. Their participation does not guarantee an available price or execution for every order. ## Where can I find market information and notices? The STX website provides the Rulebook, contract specifications, and notices of applicable changes. Review these resources for trading halts, emergency actions, contract changes, and other information affecting your orders or positions. ## Where can I see my executed trades? The Rulebook provides for a record of executed trades on the member activity page. Review the confirmation and order history to distinguish an open order from a completed trade. Contact Customer Support if the records appear incorrect. --- # Orders > Terms used for orders on STX, from the order book to maker, taker, open, filled and partially filled orders. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/orders/ You trade on STX by placing buy or sell orders on a market, using available funds in your account. See [Prices and liquidity](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/prices-and-liquidity/). - **Limit order:** an order to buy or sell a set number of contracts at a limit price or better. See [How to place a limit order](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/limit-orders/). - **Maker order:** an order that rests on the order book when it is placed because no existing order matches it. - **Taker order:** an order that matches one or more orders already on the order book, so it executes when it is placed. - **Open order:** an order, or the unexecuted part of one, that is on the order book and can still be matched. - **Filled order:** an order that has been matched in full. - **Partially filled order:** an order that has been matched in part. The remaining quantity stays open and can be canceled; the matched part cannot be canceled. - **Closed order:** an order that has been filled, or canceled before it was matched, including when the market expires before it is matched. Canceling an order releases the funds held for it to your [available balance](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/available-balance/). Fees for maker and taker orders are in the [Fee Schedule](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/fee-schedule/). --- # Outcomes and settlement > How results are determined, what contracts pay and when settlement happens. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/outcomes-and-settlement/ ## How is a market’s result determined? The contract specifications identify the outcome criteria and the source used to determine the result. XV Exchange applies those terms when determining settlement. A news report or unofficial result may not be sufficient to settle a contract. ## Where can I see a market’s rules? Each market has a **Rules** tab with its contract terms, including the outcome criteria and the result source. Review them before trading. ## How much does a contract pay? The payout depends on the contract specifications. For example, a binary contract with a $1 settlement value normally pays $1 to the qualifying side and $0 to the other side. Special settlement provisions may apply. Read the actual terms rather than assuming every contract pays the same amount. ## How do I calculate my profit or loss? For a simple purchase held to settlement, subtract your purchase cost and applicable fees from the settlement payment. For example, buying 10 contracts at $0.40 costs $4 before fees. If each pays $1, the payment is $10 and the profit is $6 before fees. If each pays $0, the loss is $4 plus fees. This example does not predict an outcome. ## When will settlement funds appear? Settlement occurs according to the contract terms and the STX settlement process. The Clearing House credits applicable member accounts following any applicable holding period. An event ending does not necessarily mean settlement is immediate. ## What happens if an event is postponed or canceled? The contract terms and Rulebook determine the treatment. XV Exchange may adjust the expiration date or take other permitted action. A canceled event does not automatically mean every trade is refunded. Review Exchange notices for the specific market. ## What happens if the outcome cannot be determined? XV Exchange applies the contract terms and Rulebook. Where the outcome cannot be determined and the contingency is not addressed in the terms, the Rulebook permits alternative payout methods, including using the last traded price or a binding determination of fair allocation. ## Can trading be halted or contract terms change? Yes, in circumstances permitted by the Rulebook. XV Exchange may halt trading, adjust certain contract terms, or take emergency action to address disruptions or protect market integrity. Such actions may affect open orders and positions. Review the relevant Exchange notices. --- # How to place an order > How to buy or sell contracts on an STX market using the Order Slip, and how YES and NO outcomes settle. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/place-an-order/ Each market is a question with a YES or NO outcome. You can buy or sell contracts on it. - **Buy** if you think the outcome will be YES. - **Sell** if you think the outcome will be NO. For a binary contract with a $1 settlement value, a contract normally pays $1 if the outcome is YES and $0 if it is NO. Read the contract's terms in its **Rules** tab; special settlement provisions may apply. See [Outcomes and settlement](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/outcomes-and-settlement/). ## Placing the order 1. Select a market and the contract you want to trade. 2. In the **Order Slip**, choose buy or sell, enter your price and the number of contracts. 3. Review the **Cost** and **Payout** shown, then select **Place Order**. An order becomes a trade only when it is matched and executed. Check the order status after you submit it. See [Trading and orders](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-and-orders/) for how orders are matched, partly filled and cancelled. ## What it costs You must have enough cash in your account to cover the maximum loss on the position. For example, at a price of $0.40: - **Buying** 10 contracts costs $4.00. If the outcome is YES, they pay $10.00. - **Selling** 10 contracts costs $6.00 ($1.00 minus $0.40, per contract). If the outcome is NO, they pay $10.00. Fees apply; see the [Fee Schedule](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/fee-schedule/). These examples do not predict an outcome. --- # Portfolio value > Your portfolio value is what your holdings on STX are worth at market prices, including your balance, positions and orders. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/portfolio-value/ Your portfolio value is the current value of everything you hold on STX, based on market prices. It includes your [available balance](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/available-balance/), your open [positions](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/positions/) and the funds held for your open [orders](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/orders/). Market prices change, so your portfolio value changes too. The value of a position at market prices is not guaranteed: you may be unable to close a position at that price. See [Prices and liquidity](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/prices-and-liquidity/). --- # Positions > What a position on STX is, how it is created when your orders trade, and which outcome a bought or sold position needs. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/positions/ A position is created when your trades on a market leave you with more contracts bought than sold, or more sold than bought. STX adds up all your trades on the market into one position, so you don't need to track each trade. - **Bought position:** you have bought more contracts than you have sold. It gains if the price rises and pays out if the outcome is YES. - **Sold position:** you have sold more contracts than you have bought. It gains if the price falls and pays out if the outcome is NO. You can close a position before settlement by submitting an offsetting order while trading is available, or hold it until the market settles. See [Trading and orders](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-and-orders/) and [Settlements](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/settlements/). You can lose the full amount committed to a position, plus applicable fees. See [Risk, security and support](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/risk-security-and-support/). --- # Prices and liquidity > What prices mean, bid, ask and spread, liquidity and changing open orders. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/prices-and-liquidity/ ## What does a contract price mean? For a binary contract that pays $1 on a qualifying outcome, a price of $0.60 can be read as an approximate market implied probability of 60%. It reflects available trading interest, not a verified forecast or a guarantee. Fees, liquidity, and market conditions also matter. ## What are the bid, ask price and spread? The bid is the highest available price a buyer is offering. The ask is the lowest available price a seller is requesting. The spread is the difference between them. The last traded price may differ from the price available for your next trade. ## What is liquidity? Liquidity is the availability of matching orders at different prices and quantities. Low liquidity can make it difficult to execute an order or close a position. Neither the presence of market makers nor a displayed price guarantees that your full order will execute. ## Why are no prices available near expiration? There may be no matching trading interest, or trading may have ended or been halted. You may have to hold your position until settlement if you cannot execute an offsetting order. Check the contract’s deadline and your order status. ## Can I change an open order? Use the order controls available on the platform. Only the unexecuted portion can be changed or canceled. Check the confirmation and order status after submitting a request; a request does not reverse a trade already executed. ## What happens to orders during maintenance or a halt? Trading or order controls may be unavailable or restricted. Review Exchange notices and verify the status of your open orders when service resumes. Do not assume that an interruption automatically cancels an order. ## What is the difference between trading ending, expiration and settlement? The trading deadline is the last time a contract may trade. Expiration is the point defined in the contract for evaluating its outcome. Settlement is the process of applying the result and crediting the applicable payout. These times may differ. --- # Pricing > How prices work on STX. Each contract is priced from $0.01 to $0.99, and the price reflects the market's view of YES. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/pricing/ Each market on STX is a question with a YES or NO outcome. For a binary contract with a $1 settlement value, a contract normally pays $1 if the outcome is YES and $0 if it is NO. Contracts trade at prices from $0.01 to $0.99. A price can be read as an approximate market implied probability of YES: a contract at $0.25 suggests about a 25% chance. As trading interest changes, so does the price, and you can buy into or sell out of a position while trading is available. A price is not a verified forecast or a guarantee. Fees, liquidity and market conditions also matter. See [Prices and liquidity](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/prices-and-liquidity/) and [Reading a market](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/reading-a-market/). --- # Reading a market > What buying and selling mean on an STX market, what a price like $0.68 tells you, and what quantity means. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/reading-a-market/ Every market is a question with a YES or NO outcome, such as "Will Detroit win?". You can take either side. ## Buy or sell? - **Buy** if you think the outcome will be YES. - **Sell** if you think it will be NO. If you sell "Detroit to win", your position pays out if Detroit does not win. The market's **Rules** tab sets out exactly what counts as YES. Read it before you trade. ## What the price means For a binary contract with a $1 settlement value, a contract pays $1 if the outcome is YES and $0 if it is NO. The price is what one contract costs, and can be read as an approximate market implied probability of YES: $0.68 is about 68%. It reflects trading interest, not a forecast. See [Pricing](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/pricing/). - A **buyer** at $0.68 pays $0.68 per contract, and is paid $1.00 per contract if the outcome is YES. - A **seller** at $0.68 pays $0.32 per contract, and is paid $1.00 per contract if the outcome is NO. ## What quantity means Quantity is the number of contracts. 20 contracts bought at $0.68 cost $13.60 and pay $20.00 if the outcome is YES, a profit of $6.40 before fees. This example does not predict an outcome. ## My order was rejected or canceled If an order is rejected, or you cancel it before it fills, the funds held for it return to your [available balance](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/available-balance/). If an order is only partly filled, the filled part becomes a [position](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/positions/). --- # Responsible trading > Tools that help you stay in control of your trading on STX, from limits to a break or self-exclusion, and how to get help. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/risk-security-and-support/ ## Can I lose money? Yes. You can lose the full amount committed to a position, plus applicable fees. Only trade with funds you can afford to lose. Consider your financial circumstances and understand the contract before placing an order. ## What trading conduct is prohibited? Members must comply with the Rulebook, including its prohibitions on manipulation, disruptive trading, and misuse of protected nonpublic information. Other restrictions may apply to a particular contract or participant. Review the rules before trading. ## Are there limits on my positions? Position limits and accountability levels may apply. XV Exchange may request information about your positions or direct you to reduce them under the Rulebook. Check the applicable requirements before placing orders. ## How does STX protect market integrity? The compliance framework of XV Exchange, LLC provides for market surveillance, investigation of potential rule violations, and enforcement of the Rulebook. These controls support fair and orderly markets but do not guarantee that misconduct will never occur. ## How is my information protected? STX maintains policies for access controls, encryption, system monitoring, and security testing. Read the Privacy Policy for information about how personal data is handled. No system can guarantee complete protection against every security threat. ## What should I do if I suspect unauthorized account activity? Contact Customer Support immediately if your credentials may have been exposed or you notice activity you do not recognize. Protect your login information and follow STX’s instructions to secure the account. ## What if an order was handled incorrectly? Request a review in writing, provide the order confirmation number, and explain the issue. For a trade cancellation or adjustment review under Rule 5.9, the request must be received no later than 15 minutes after execution and before contract expiration. Separate order review and appeal procedures appear in Rule 5.6. ## How do I report a concern or get help? Contact Customer Support for account, funding, or technical issues. To report suspected misconduct, identify the market, date, time, and relevant order or trade details. Ask that the concern be directed to Compliance. Never include your password in a support request. --- # Self-exclusion > Exclude yourself from trading on STX for a longer period. How to set it up and what it means for your account. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/self-exclusion/ Self-exclusion lets you stop trading on STX for a longer period than a [cool off period](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/cool-off-period/). To self-exclude, open the menu in the app, select **Member Protection**, then **Self-Exclusion**, and choose a period from the options shown. Self-exclusion cannot be reversed once it is set. It restricts you from trading on STX during the excluded period, so review your choice before you confirm it. If you need help with your account or funds during a self-exclusion period, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/). If you no longer want to use STX at all, see [Closing your account](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/closing-your-account/). --- # Results and settlement questions > What to do if you think a market settled the wrong way, or your position has not settled yet, and where a market's rules are. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/settlement-questions/ ## Where are a market's rules? Each market has a **Rules** tab with its contract terms, including the outcome criteria and the result source. Read it before you trade. The Rulebook also applies. See [Outcomes and settlement](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/outcomes-and-settlement/). ## I think my trade settled the wrong way 1. Check the market question and your side. A [sold position](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/positions/) pays out when the outcome is NO. See [Reading a market](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/reading-a-market/). 2. Check the market's **Rules** tab, for example whether overtime counts or what happens if the event does not finish. See [Sports situations](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/sports-situations/). 3. If it still looks wrong, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/) with the market name and your order ID. ## The event was postponed, canceled or delayed The contract terms and the Rulebook determine what happens. A canceled event does not automatically mean every trade is refunded. Review Exchange notices for the specific market. ## My position hasn't settled Settlement occurs according to the contract terms and the STX settlement process, and an event ending does not necessarily mean settlement is immediate. If your position still has not settled well after the result is final, [contact Customer Support](https://help.stxapp.io/contact/) with the market name and your order ID. --- # Settlements > How a position on STX settles, either by an offsetting trade before the market ends or by the market's result. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/settlements/ A position settles in one of two ways. - **Closing:** while trading is available, you trade against your own position. A bought position is closed by selling, and a sold position by buying. Closing depends on matching interest, and the price may produce a loss. - **At expiration:** every market has an expiration defined in its contract terms. When the result is applied, each open position settles under those terms. For a binary contract with a $1 settlement value, a contract normally settles at $1 if the outcome is YES and $0 if it is NO. When a position settles, funds held for it are released to your account. The Clearing House credits applicable member accounts following any applicable holding period, so settlement may not be immediate after an event ends. See [Outcomes and settlement](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/outcomes-and-settlement/). Fees are set out in the [Fee Schedule](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/fee-schedule/). --- # Sports situations > Overtime, ties, withdrawn players, suspended games and corrected results. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/sports-situations/ The full specifications for each listed sports contract determine how it settles. Check the terms for your market before trading; different sports and contract types may use different criteria. ## Does overtime, extra time or a shootout count? Check the contract specifications. They determine whether settlement includes only regulation play or also includes overtime, extra time, penalties, or shootouts. Do not assume the same treatment applies to every market. ## What happens if an event ends in a tie or draw? The contract specifications determine how a tie or draw is treated. A tie does not automatically mean a refund or an equal payout. Review the available outcomes and settlement criteria before trading. ## What if a player withdraws, is replaced or does not participate? For a contract involving a named participant, review the participation requirements and cancellation provisions in its specifications. Withdrawal, replacement, inactivity, or limited participation may have different effects depending on the contract. ## What if a game starts but is suspended or ends early? Settlement depends on the contract terms, including any requirements for an official result or minimum amount of play. XV Exchange may adjust expiration where permitted by the Rulebook. Review any notice for the affected market. ## What if an event changes its venue, start time or format? The effect depends on the contract specifications and applicable Rulebook provisions. Review Exchange notices for any change to the market or trading deadline. Do not assume a venue or schedule change automatically cancels your position. ## What if official results or statistics are corrected? Review the contract’s official source and the point at which its result becomes final for settlement. Do not assume that a later correction automatically changes the payout. Contact Customer Support if you believe settlement did not follow the published terms. ## Can a market settle before the scheduled event ends? The Rulebook permits XV Exchange to bring expiration forward when a qualifying outcome occurs before the scheduled expiration. Whether that applies depends on the contract terms and circumstances. Review the relevant Exchange notice. --- # Trading and orders > Placing, matching, cancelling and closing orders, and full collateralization. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-and-orders/ ## How do I place an order? Select a contract, review its terms, and enter the order direction, price, and number of contracts. Review your order before submitting it. An order becomes a trade only when it is matched and executed. ## What is a limit order? A limit order specifies the highest price you are willing to pay to buy or the lowest price you are willing to accept to sell. An order may execute at that price or a better price. Execution is not guaranteed. ## How are orders matched? Orders on the central limit order book are generally matched first by price and then by time. Orders at better prices take priority. At the same price, earlier orders take priority, subject to the Rulebook. ## Why hasn’t my order executed? There may be no matching order at your price, or other orders may have priority. A market may also be closed or halted, or an account restriction may prevent activity. Check the order status before submitting another order. ## Why was my order only partially filled? There may have been enough matching interest to fill only part of your order. Under the standard order book process, the remaining quantity stays open at your limit price until it executes, is canceled, or otherwise expires under the rules. ## Can I cancel an order? You may request cancellation of the unexecuted portion of an order. An order can execute before the cancellation is processed. Check for confirmation. Canceling an open order does not reverse a trade that has already been executed. ## Can I close a position before settlement? You may submit an offsetting order while trading is available. Closing depends on matching interest and the applicable rules. You may be unable to close when you want, and the price may produce a loss. ## What does fully collateralized mean? You must have sufficient cash in your account to cover the maximum loss on a position. The Rulebook does not allow positions with exposure exceeding the funds deposited in the relevant member account. Full collateralization does not eliminate trading risk. ## When can I trade? The Rulebook provides for trading outside maintenance windows, but individual contracts have their own trading deadlines. Markets may also be paused or halted. Review each contract’s trading times and Exchange notices. --- # Trading limits > Set limits on your deposits, the amount you can have at risk, your losses and your time on STX, and how changing a limit works. Source: https://help.stxapp.io/articles/trading-limits/ You can set personal limits to help you manage your trading. To set them, open the menu in the app, select **Member Protection**, then **Member Limits**. ## Limits you can set - **Deposit limits:** the total amount you can deposit into your STX account per day, week or month, or over the life of the account. - **Max trade limits:** the total amount you can have at risk across your account, per order and per market. - **Loss limits:** the amount you can lose over 24 hours, a week or a month. - **Time limits:** the number of hours per day you can spend on STX. When you reach a limit, the related activity is blocked until the limit's period has passed. For example, once you reach a deposit limit, you cannot deposit again until the period ends. ## Changing a limit As the app explains when you set a limit, you can set a more restrictive limit at any time. After you set a limit, you can only increase it after the associated timeframe has passed. To see the limits you have set, see [Limit history](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/limit-history/). For a break from trading, see [Cool off period](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/cool-off-period/) and [Self-exclusion](https://help.stxapp.io/articles/self-exclusion/).
